REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Choosing a mattress is probably the easiest thing to do. Look for a mattress that looks good, sits on the edge of it, and considers the rest. However, has it ever occurred to you that choosing a mattress is not as easy? Not choosing a mattress according to your body’s needs can result in an uncomfortable rest, and leads to affect your health (especially your back, waist, and neck).
The mattress industry currently only gives prospective buyers the opportunity to take a few minutes to try the mattress on the display. Mimpi, a technology and lifestyle startup that focuses on sleep quality, was built by Frank De Witte who said that this way was wrong.
“The edge is very different from the middle if you only sit on the edge, it’s wrong. It does not reflect the mattress as a whole,” he said. He suggested you should try to lie down in the middle, which will be the part where you sleep every night.
Second suggestion from De Witte, don’t buy a spring-mattress. There is a lot of free space in the spring mattress, and it will allow dust to builds up and eventually letting germs to live in it. Another disadvantage is the spring that will get loose after a long time of use, and make resting uncomfortable.
